Just More Art - no pun!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

Today we have the fifth and final (for now!) installment of our Kitten Academy fan art series! Sorry this last bit was such a long time coming.

The only real news today is that Whimsy is feeling much better and the kittens are all healthy - things are all good at the Academy right meow!

Welcome Whimsical Wiggles!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

DJ made a cheat-sheet!

There’s one more post in our five-part art series, but not today. Also, don’t forget about KA-Con 3!

Today we give our official welcome to Whimsy and her five wiggly kittens! Whimsy is our first cat brought to us through our new shelter, the Danbury Animal Welfare Society. They are completely awesome and you should check them out!

As you know, Whimsy has been fighting off a bit of an upper respiratory infection. She’s still sneezing a bit but otherwise it seems like she’s feeling much better lately! She’s been eating and drinking on her own again and we’re continuing her treatments of antivirals and antibiotics until she’s completely well.

Her five little kittens seem super healthy so far! Here they are:

Fidget - Female - Torbie

Flip - Female - Dilute Tortie?

Twist - Female - Tabby

Cartwheel - Male - Tabby

Twiddle - Male - Tabby

Whimsy - Momcat

It can be difficult to tell Twist and Cartwheel apart on the stream. Twist has a bold white ring on her back right leg, and also a white neck under her chin. Cartwheel doesn’t - so that’s an easy way to tell who is who if those parts are visible. When they get big enough, we may consider collars to help differentiate them.

Here’s all the rest of the photoshoot!

Tantrums Graduation!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

The Tantrums got picked up by their adopters today, at OAW. TnT will get picked up on the 22nd. Huge thanks to Cari for seeing them through to graduation while we were busy moving to Connecticut!

We took Whimsy to the vet (again) this morning and have changed her antibiotic, given anti-nausea, fluids, and a little something to make it easier for her to eat. We think she’ll be back on track soon.

Meanwhile, here’s some graduation photos we took before we left Illinois!

Take Another Little Piece of my Art!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

It’s an exciting day! As we write this, we’re streaming live from Connecticut for the first time. It’s a bit poor quality due to the temporary wireless setup, but we’ll be working on resolving that over the next few days and also Cari will be streaming the Tantrums from Illinois most of the time - until Friday, when we intend to take over full time again.

We expect our new momcat to arrive today!

Meanwhile - some additional arts! Part four in our five-part art retrospectacle!

Home is Where the Art Is!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

We got word that DAWS has found a new pregnant momcat to be our first momcat in Connecticut! We expect her to arrive on Wednesday. We’ll definitely share video of her right away, but we may not get her on the regular stream until later in the week. More on that later - !

Meanwhile, here’s the third installment of the art retrospective!

Wherefore Art Thou?

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

These aren’t all going to be Shakespeare puns, I promise!

Anyhow, we’ll keep this brief! Just a quick reminder that KA-Con 3 tickets are for sale here. We don’t plan to make any money at KA-Con - the ticket sales are entirely to pay for the venue and events. We’ll let Dr. Bru tell you all about it here. We’d really like to see all of you there so we’ll keep talking about it in future blog posts!

Meanwhile, here’s some more fantastic art from the past! (Isn’t all art from the past? We want to see art from the future!) If you have some art to share, please tweet it at us, or email it to headmaster@kitten.academy, or if you’re on our Discord for Patreons, you know what to do!

Arting is such Sweet Sorrow!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

We’ve arrived in Connecticat and we’re working hard on getting things in order for the Academy out here. The faculty were pretty calm for the trip - especially on the second day. They all seem to be enjoying the new house, although it’s still very empty until all our stuff arrives in a week or two.

Meanwhile, Jay and Syl have worked to put together a series of five blog posts that showcase some of the art that Kitten Academy viewers have made! We absolutely love how talented and creative these artists are and we hope these posts inspire some of you to create your own KA-themed art!

Connecticat Bound!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

Smokey!

As you know, DJ and Mr. A are moving the Academy to Connecticut, where DJ is set to begin her post-graduate medical work! The Kitten Academy will continue uninterrupted. Cari, who has always been our On Angels’ Wings liaison, has been kind enough to set up a kitten classroom for the Tantrums to complete their coursework. Tomorrow, Monday the 27th, at 11:00am, TnT and the Tantrums will move to Cari’s classroom and the Kitten Academy live stream will be broadcast from there until they graduate and go to their new homes!

All of the endowments have already been delivered to Cari and the TnT and Tantrum adopters will be picking them up at On Angels’ Wings when they are ready to graduate.

Later this same week, the Faculty will have an epic two-day road trip from IL to CT! We’ll try to keep some video and photos of the trip to share with all of you after the fact, but we probably won’t be able to stream any of it live. You’ll all be too busy watching the cute Tantrums at Cari’s!

Our current plan is to have a new momcat or kittens at the new Academy in Connecticut by June 10th or thereabouts. We’ll be sure to keep you informed. And maybe we can do some close-up streams of the faculty in the new house before that!

Loganberry Helps Pack for the Move

We’ve been working with the Danbury Animal Welfare Society to help us find new momcats and kittens and also to process applications for future classes. We’re totally excited to work with them - they’re a well-established rescue that has been in their current location (which is, ironically, not in Danbury) for about 40 years! Mr. A met with them on a previous trip to CT and was super impressed with how wonderful they are and their facilities. We can hardly wait until we can help with their momcats and kittens!

If you want our new mailbag address, it’s:

Kitten Academy
270 Monroe Tpke #186
Monroe, CT 06468

However if you want to contribute to our arrival in Connecticut, we’d encourage you to consider donating to DAWS in our name instead! They also have their own Amazon Wish List.

Finally, let me say what an absolute joy it’s been working with the people here in Illinois who’ve made Kitten Academy what it is. We’ll miss being so near to all of you, but we hope to see many of you again (at KA-Con 3 if nothing else)!

Here’s a few recent faculty photos to wrap up this post - and we’ve got a bunch of great TnT and Tantrum photos to share when we’re closer to their graduation!

Solemates Graduation!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

The Solemates are all getting near to graduation! Hushpuppy had his graduation ceremony at the vet on Friday the 19th and the rest of the kids will have theirs on the 3rd. Lace is a special case - we’re waiting on some further tests to make sure she’s super healthy before we (re)schedule hers.

Although we haven’t yet scheduled pick-up dates with any of the adopters, all the Solemates — including Lace — now have confirmed adopters! Also, Hubbub and Rumpus of the Tantrums also have confirmed adopters! We’re kind of hoping someone adopts three generations of girls, Teacup, Tempest, and Kerfuffle, all together - but more on that later!

One Month of Tantrums!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

Today the Tantrums are one month old - and they’re growing like crazy! We finally gave them collars so that we can tell them apart. Well, DJ has always been able to tell but Mr. A not so much. The collars should make it easier for everyone!

Before we get on with the photos, a couple quick news items to cover:

  • On Angels’ Wings and Conscious Cup are running another fundraiser. We’re not directly involved this time, but they are bringing back the Kitten Academy “Just Bean Adopted” blend, so if you missed it before, now’s your chance - it’s back for a limited time only! As before, the proceeds go to On Angels’ Wings.

  • Tomorrow, Friday the 19th, Lace and Hushpuppy will be going to the vet for their graduation surgeries!

  • Oxford, Hushpuppy and Sneaker have approved adopters - more on that later!

  • We’ve done a graduation photoshoot for the Solemates, which will be coming in another blogpost in the next few days!

  • Our move to Connecticut is tentatively scheduled for the end of May/start of June. More on that later as well!

Here’s all the Tantrum photoshoot photos!
