Fable's Tails Photo Updates!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

Fable's bables got moved into the main kitten room this week, because on Friday, we're due to have a new pregnant momcat arrive, who will go into the annex.  She is also bringing her previous litter of three three-month-old kittens, but they probably won't be allowed to stay with her in the annex.  Because we're full up, they're likely to get the run of the house, and hopefully we can get them adopted quickly - they should be ready to go as soon as they arrive!

But more on that later this week - meanwhile, we've got some great new photos of Fable's kids.  It's still very difficult for us to tell Ink from Quill, so to give us all the best chance, we're going to post the photos in four separate 'albums' below.

Breakfast Club Graduation!

Hello, Kitten Academicians!

Not much news to report on this post - just an awesome graduation photo shoot.  The breakfast kitten adopters are all scheduled to come pick up their kittens this weekend, around 1pm on Saturday the 11th!

EDIT: Since folks are asking, here's how the adoptions are paired up - all the kittens in this class are adopted in pairs, and each pair is male/female!  How cool is that?

  • Egg and Toast

  • Chai and Donut

  • Waffles and Muffin

  • Tiffiny and Bearclaw

Additionally, it's worth mentioning that all four adopters are on our Discord for Patreon supporters, and have promised to share lots of photos and updates there!

As usual - here's all the rest of the photoshoot.  This one was a lot of fun!

Fable's Tails Arrive!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

Once again, we really have put "the late" in "the latest news."  The past week or so has been a whirlwind of Academy-related stuff!  Firstly, we had our second annual Kitten Academy Convention and it was completely amazing.  We've got so much we'd like to say about it - but that's not even what this post is about.  It's about Fable's three new kittens!

On July 20th, Fable went into labor, and it seemed like it was a little more difficult than most.  So we packed her up and on the way to the emergency vet, she delivered two wonderful kittens; Ink and Quill.  At the vet, they checked her out and said everything was just fine and we should go home for the third kitten - who was delivered on the way home.  So all three of this class were born in the car!  Of course Fable's kittens would have to start life with a good story to tell.

Because it's been over a week since they were born, their eyes are already starting to open!  Surprisingly, the smallest kitten, Parchment, seems to be well ahead of her sisters!

Here's a cheat-sheet to help get you started!

As usual, here's the rest of the photos from this session - and we'll be back soon with graduation photos of the Breakfast kittens, who are all getting adooted on the 11th!

Welcome to Fable!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

We can't believe Fable's already been here for a week - and it's taken us this long to get around to making a blog post about it!  So by now, you've probably already seen her lounging around the annex.  When she first arrived here via On Angels' Wings, we brought her to our favorite vet, Cary Grove Animal Hospital.  There, an ultrasound and X-ray showed us that she has three kittens, and they were at least 45 days along.  That means they had, at most, two weeks left to go!  And that was one week ago - so we expect her to deliver any day now!

Here's some initial photos of our lovely new momcat:

Some quick news items before we give you bonus photos:

  • Tiffiny had a successful spay on Tuesday, and also had a bladder diverticulum surgically corrected at the same time. She's doing super fantastic and spending a lot of time recovering in the master bedroom.

  • Bear and Toast have reached graduation weight and will have their surgeries next Tuesday.

  • Mailbag will be happening as usual this weekend, with DJ included - but mailbag the following week, the 27th, will be canceled due to KA-Con 2!

  • DJ has created a new page to help explain our "No Sads" policy.

And here's some bonus photos of the Breakfast club!

Breakfast Kittens Update Photos!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

Because the kittens have matured so much since the introduction/cheatsheet photos, we're going to provide a new set here.

A lot of folks have noticed that Chai is somewhat wall-eyed.  This is common for little kittens.  Their eyes are still developing.  It usually resolves itself around the time their eyes are changing from blue to their adult colors.  It's nothing to be concerned about now!

Not much news to share today - although it is news that Frolic has an adopter, who will be picking her up around 13:00 KATZ (Kitten Academy Time Zone) on Saturday the 9th!  Frolic gets along well here but we think she'll be happy to get to a place she can call her own that's a little less filled with cats.

Don't Call Me Late For Breakfast!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

Chai - Female

On Angels' Wings brought us an extra kitten on Tuesday!  Welcome to tiny Chai!  She was bottle-fed for the first two weeks of her life, but fortunately, when we put her with Tiffiny, she immediately figured out how to nurse.  She's been gaining weight at an appropriate rate, and fits right in with her adopted cat-family!  While she's technically a few days older than Tiffiny's kittens, she's still the smallest of the crew.  At the rate she eats, that may not last long!

One quick, unrelated note:  Frolic has been adopted!  She's still hanging around the Academy until the start of next month, when she'll go home with her adopter!

We've added Chai's photo to the last post with the rest of the Breakfast Kittens, but she also got her own photoshoot - here's the extras from it!

Welcome to Breakfast at Tiffiny's!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

You've probably already noticed our newest class in the Annex.  On Angels' Wings delivered them to us on Tuesday the 8th, and the shelter OAW rescued them from says that the kittens were born last Saturday, the 5th.  They seem like quite an advanced class; one arrived with one eye wide open, and another has already left the box!  Leaving the box at 3-4 days old is a record that will surely stand for some time!

We know it can be difficult to tell the orange kittens and the grey ones apart at this point!  We don't tend to put collars on kittens that are so small.  We've heard of coloring them a little with food dye and we are considering that possibility.

Although the main kitten room will be free this weekend - all of Frolic's kittens are being adopted on Saturday around 13:00 KATZ - we may wait a little while before moving Tiffiny's class into the main room.  She seems a little anxious about other cats at the door and there's even more visibility in the main room.

We've been getting a lot of questions about why we have spelled the mom's name "Tiffiny" instead of the more common "Tiffany."  Firstly, Tiffiny is not unheard of as a spelling!  But more importantly, it's a pun on "Tiffin" - a word that in South India, where DJ is from, means a light breakfast or a snack.

Just a quick note here:  Frolic still needs an adopter!  She gets along quite well with other cats and dogs!  You can apply for her or any of this class using the application link in the menu above!

Frolic's Furballs Graduation!

What - already?!

It's true - all of Frolic's kids are big enough now to graduate.  We've scheduled Gallivant and Roughhouse to go for their surgeries on Tuesday the 1st along with Bubbles and Faucet.  The rest of Frolic's kids - and Frolic herself - will hopefully be scheduled for their own surgeries the following Tuesday, the 8th.

All of Frolic's kids have been adopted and will have wonderful lives.  Gal and Revel get to stay together!  We're expecting all the kids to be picked up by their adopters on the 12th.

But Frolic still needs an adopter!  She's a total sweetheart and loves to play and eat treats.  We think she'll end up getting along with other cats, but we're still in the process of slowly introducing her to the Faculty to prove it out.  And don't get any ideas about us keeping her - now that we've adopted Maggie, we're full for sure!

If you want to apply to adopt you can do that right here.  We don't manage the applications ourselves, it's all down to the wonderful people at On Angels' Wings in Crystal Lake.  They'll allow adoptions from anywhere in the continental USA - if you'll come to pick up Frolic.

On Angels' Wings has already begun the process of checking animal shelters near and far for our next pregnant momcat!

Baf Time Graduation!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

There's plenty of interesting news today - Maggie has officially become Kitten Academy Faculty, and it's the 2-year anniversary of our live stream!  But we will post more about those later; we don't want to take away from the Baf Time kids' graduation!

As you know, Pumice, Wash, Tubby, and Ducky are getting picked up by their adopters this weekend.  Saying goodbye at graduation is especially difficult when we have a class that enrolled at birth at the Academy. However, we know they are going to great homes and that they will keep in touch with us! Look for their class to be added to the Alumni section in the near future. Pickup times for this weekend are listed below:

  • Ducky: 3 PM Saturday
  • Tubby: 4 PM or later, Saturday
  • Pumice + Wash: 1 PM Sunday

Faucet and Bubbles will be staying on a couple extra weeks while we wait for them to get large enough for their spays. They will most likely be graduating in the first week of May.

We expect that the Frolic's Furballs will move up to the main classroom late this weekend or early next week!

And... here are the official portraits of the graduates:

As usual, we've got a lot of fun bonus photos from the graduation photoshoot!

Introducing Frolic's Furballs!

Greetings, Kitten Academicians!

As you probably know, On Angels' Wings brought us a new momcat and her five kittens to fill up our empty annex!  All we really know about them is that they're about two weeks old, and came to us from animal control in southern Illinois.

They've been passing around a little eye infection - nothing too serious. We're treating that with Ofloxacin - an antibiotic eyedrop we've used many times in the past.  Additionally, the mom cat Frolic has a very mild case of "pillow foot" (Plasma Cell Pododermatitis) and possibly some related allergies or hypersensitivity.  She's not in any discomfort, so with the vet's recommendation, we're waiting until the kittens are able to be weaned before we start treating those.

It's never too early to apply to adopt - and also remember that Tubby from the Baf Time Kittens still needs an adopter, too!

Because these kittens look so much alike, we're going to do this a little differently than we usually do.  Instead of posting one photo of each then a big gallery, we're posting individual galleries below.
