While we are aware that sads in this line of work do happen, it never gets any easier for us. That said, we do think it's important to share the facts with those of you who want to know.

We're sorry to share with you that Axle, Cog and Sprocket have passed away. Sprocket and Axle passed first within a couple hours of each other while being comforted by those caring for them. Four days later, Cog also passed while under the care of the emergency vet. All three were seen by at least half a dozen emergency and critical care doctors each and we're confident in saying that every option was exhausted for them.

Cog received additional imaging and it was determined that he was born without a complete immune system or spleen. This means that his passing was unavoidable; literally nothing could have been done to prevent or fix it. The doctors now believe that Sprocket and Axle were probably the same.

So far, we have no reason to believe Crank has any of the same issues and as she gets older, the likelihood of a bad outcome gets progressively lower. We will continue to do our best to remain positive and focus on the good. We hope you do as well.
